A Taste of Ashland – APRIL

Ashland Gallery Association’s annual fundraiser and a great excuse to explore local art and culinary scene. Over the course of one weekend in late April enjoy great pairings from local restaurants, wineries offered at Ashland art galleries located throughout downtown.

Ashland Independent Film Festival – OCTOBER

Five-day event featuring documentaries, feature and short films. Shake hands with the filmmakers; attend screenings, discussions and workshops offered at the Varsity Movie Theatre, the historic Armory and the Ashland Springs Hotel.

Ashland Mystery Festival - OCTOBER

Enjoy a weekend of full bookish fun with plenty of of twists and turns. From panels and workshops to an interactive mystery with clues located all around town, this festival is designed to put you in the hot seat. You'll have your chance to put your detective skills to the test and interact with the authors who brought these stories to life. You won't just be a spectator - you'll be right in the center of the action.

For unforgettable birding, head east towards Klamath Falls, and take the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway, which leads you to Upper Klamath Lake, in the Upper Klamath National Wildlife Refuge. Between November and March, impressive numbers of wintering bald eagles can often be found on the waters in the Klamath Basin. For a guided trip head out with the Klamath Basin Audubon Society.

Brine, Brew & Barrel Fermentation Festival – JANUARY

Celebrates the multi-cultural culinary tradition of fermented products including pickles, krauts, kombucha, beer, wine, cider, mead, chocolate, cheese, coffee, sourdough, and everything in between.

Britt Music Festival

Britt Music Festival is the Pacific Northwest’s premiere outdoor summer performing arts festival. Located in the historic Jacksonville, Britt presents dozens of summer concerts, featuring world-class artists in jazz, folk, country, pop, dance, and classical music. The Britt Festivals Gardens and Amphitheater is located in Jacksonville about five miles west of Medford and 20 miles outside of Ashland.

Camelot Theatre Co.

This semi-professional theatre located just 5 miles from Ashland has been serving the Rogue Valley community since 1982. Featuring new state-of-the-art theatre was opened in June 2011.

Cascade Siskiyou Scenic Bikeway

Starts and ends in Ashland. Climbs from the valley floor out past the recreation paradise of Emigrant Lake and into oak-dotted mountain sides that deliver spectacular views of the Bear Creek Valley below. You’ll also see Pilot Rock, a 25-million-year-old volcanic plug, standing sentinel over the valley.

Crater Lake National Park

At 1,943 feet deep, it’s the seventh deepest lake in the world and the deepest in the United States. No place on earth combines a deep, pure lake, so blue in color; sheer surrounding cliffs, almost two thousand feet high; two picturesque islands; and a violent volcanic past. It is a place of immeasurable beauty, and an outstanding outdoor laboratory and classroom.

Committed road cyclists visiting the area will be hard-pressed to cram in the area’s best rides in under a week. Plan a one of a kind ride – a 33 mile rim ride around Crater Lake – or challenge yourself on the Cascade-Siskiyou Scenic Bikeway overlooking the Rogue River Valley. Or hook up with some local cyclists and get tips for riding through the scenic orchards and vineyards from Ashland through the Applegate Valley. For some excellent mountain biking within the city limits, check out the BTI Trail in the Alice in Wonderland trail system in the hills above Ashland just south of Lithia Park. For those hopping on bikes for the scenery, Southern Oregon offers the Bear Creek Greenway, an easy and scenic 18-mile ride connecting Ashland via Medford to Central Point, perfect for all ages and skill levels.
